Safeguarding

I am committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk who access my practice.

I work in accordance with current safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance and follow the safeguarding procedures of the relevant Local Authority.

Where a safeguarding concern arises, I will consider the information available, the wishes and circumstances of the person concerned, the nature and immediacy of any risk, my responsibilities regarding confidentiality, and my legal and professional responsibilities.

Where appropriate, I will seek consultation through professional supervision and/or from the relevant Local Authority safeguarding service or another appropriate professional service.

Where information needs to be shared in order to protect someone from harm, I will share only information that is necessary and proportionate. Wherever possible and appropriate, I will discuss this with the person concerned before doing so. There may be circumstances where this is not possible or appropriate.

Where I believe someone is at immediate risk of serious harm, I may contact the emergency services or another appropriate service.

Safeguarding concerns, decisions, consultation, information shared, actions taken and any necessary follow-up will be appropriately recorded.

How I make safeguarding decisions

Safeguarding decisions are not always straightforward. I consider each situation individually and aim to balance safety with the person's wishes, autonomy, confidentiality and the potential impact of any action taken. I consider the information available, the nature and immediacy of any risk, my legal and professional responsibilities and, where appropriate, seek consultation before deciding what action is necessary and proportionate.

If you have a safeguarding concern

If you have a safeguarding concern relating to our work together, you can raise this directly with me.

You can also contact your relevant Local Authority safeguarding service independently. If you or another person is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services on 999.
